FIA Institute holds Motor Sport Development Workshop in Beirut
The FIA Institute hosted a Motor Sport Development Workshop in Beirut, Lebanon on 19 September 2011. The event followed recent development workshops in Latin America and Africa, and aimed to help FIA National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) from across the Middle East and North African region to make the most of the opportunities available to them through the Motor Sport Safety Development Fund.
Chaired by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA Vice President for Sport and President of the Automobile Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE), the workshop brought together motor sport experts and stakeholders to discuss their views on the work of the FIA Institute and the Motor Sport Safety Development Fund, particularly in relation to grass roots development in the Middle East.
A panel of experts explained in detail the structure and programmes of the Fund and how best to approach applications for funding. The afternoon session was dedicated to a workshop review of draft ASN applications to the Fund, with constructive feedback offered before final submissions at the end of September.
