Legal & Consumer Affairs Award 2009 – Call for Nominations

Has your club or one of your experts or departments achieved something outstanding in defence of your members’ consumer safety or mobility? If so, please submit your application by 27th February at the latest to the FIA Legal & Consumer Affairs Award !

 

My club should present its best practices in the following fields:

  • The defence of members’ legal interests (e.g. by winning of a key legal decision or key consumer right)
  • The developpement of innovative legal & consumer services (products that can be sold to members and other parties)
  • Monitoring and amendment of national, European or international regulation to the benefit of their members, clubs and consumers generally.
  • Significant achievement with strong potential for the transfer of the experience or practice with benefits for FIA members in Region1.

Timeline:

  • 15th March 2009 = Send your completed application form in English, German, French or Spanish to l.krid@fiabrussels.com (only one application per club will be accepted !)
  • 12th May 2009 = Announcement of the winning club during conference week (Buenos Aires)
  • 2nd June 2009 = Official presentation of the prize in Copenhagen.

The prize includes an award, certificate and attendance to an FIA related event. Laureates in 2007 and 2008 attended a Formula One Grand Prix race. “Personally, attending Silverstone 2008 was a memorable and valuable experience never to be forgotten.” Ilie Gabra, winner 2008.

 

ADAC (Germany) won the price in 2007 for its initiative “Safe Car buying over the internet”  aiming at warning the consumers interested in purchasing cars of the scam and fraudsters. More information is available under: www.sicherer-autokauf.de .

 

Automobile Club (Romania) won the award in 2008 for collecting more than one million signatures for a petition calling the on the Romanian Government to stop unfairly taxing consumers who purchase their vehicles in other EU Member States. 

 

Other initiatives include bringing the sale of all international driving permits under the control of the club and thereby stamping out the circulation of fake IDP (Automobile and Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates ) or lobbying efforts with the European institutions to ensure better compensation for victims of road accident that occur abroad (OEAMTC, Austria).
