Council welcomes Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution

The Environment Council adopted today conclusions on the thematic strategy on air pollution. The Council broadly endorses the Commission's approach of setting interim objectives on health and environment up to 2020 in order to provide a longer-term perspective.

The Council therefore urges the Commission to come forward asap with appropriate proposals, especially with regard to emissions from heavy-duty vehicles (Euro VI). Further, the Council asked the Commission to submit a provisional timetable and more information about the potential effects of the envisaged proposals.
