FIA workshop on CO2 from cars

Publication date: 19 July 2007

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has long been calling to the European Union to take a resolute lead in defining the roadmap for different CO2 reduction measures, prioritising them according to cost-efficiency and impact assessment. Since Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas proposed last February that CO2 emissions from cars should be reduced to an average of 130 g/km by 2012 the European Commission has been consulting stakeholders on the issue with the aim to draw up a proposal due in autumn.

On Tuesday 17 February, the FIA organised a workshop on CO2 bringing together the main stakeholders.  FIA member the ADAC used the workshop to bring introduce a new ADAC model  that can analyse the effects of changing various factors such as technical developments, share of diesel and consumer demand.
