Review of the Transport White Paper

The Commission has launched a public consultation on the occasion of the mid-term review of the White Paper on "The European Transport Policy for 2010".

The review will take several new and outstanding developments into account which justify an update of the basic hypotheses of the White Paper, including EU enlargement, weak current economic growth, high oil prices and new concerns, such as those relating to the safety of transport. 

The Commission has prepared a questionaire for stakeholders which should be preferable used as a basis for contributions.

Submissions should reach the Commission’s services no later than the 31 December 2005 at the following address: tren-mid-term-review-wp-transport@cec.eu.int.

Next steps:
- The Commission is also going to hold a conference on 1 December 2005 in Brussels, where the FIA European Bureau will participate.
- The reviewed White Paper is due to be presented during the first quarter of 2006.
